Hello! I am a photographer living in Manchester. When I am not posting to my dogs Instagram, you can find me on walks with my camera
I have been practising photography since the age of 7. While on a family holiday to Majorca my father saw how his 6 year old daughter ran around taking photos on a simple point and shoot camera that would be better than his own using a Canon SLR set-up. The angles I used, and subject matters which interested me, gave this realisation. Once our holiday photos were back from the processing lab he knew I had inherited our family photography gene. I then received a Canon AE1 for my 7th birthday present, and asked to have weekly photography lessons with my father; a deep love of photography quickly ensued.
I studied for a photography GCSE and A level at South Cheshire College. I then went on to gain a high 2:1 Photography degree at Wolverhampton University. For the final 2 years of my degree I chose Advertising and Fine Art Photography as my electives. Following graduation I took 2 courses, Fashion Photography at St Martins College, London, and NVQ level 2 Foundations for Learning and Life, post graduate photographers course with Rhonda Wilson MBE of Rhubarb Rhubarb & Creative Alliance, Birmingham.
I have had several solo and group exhibitions, and also took part in art fairs and competitions, based in Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Leamington Spa and Brighton. I have previously been part of a collective with whom I also exhibited with.
I previously worked only in film, 35mm and medium format on a Mamiya camera, with either dark room processing or digital output. Working for a long time in medium format film has given me experience to shoot on location how I wish the end image to appear. 6 years ago I decided to switch over to DSLR.
My main focus of work is landscapes, of either the beauty found in the countryside, or in the grit of urban locations.
A large body of work is documenting seaside towns, which started with “Winter Light” for my degree exhibition. This year I have taken this out of the UK to Norway, and wish to keep pushing further afield, whilst continuing to document the UK.
